Here's What Our Members Have To Say!
"We joined the Cowichan Bio-Diesel Coop to support a local small business, to vote with our dollars on a business that has similar values to ours. We also LOVE the fact that we are burning a product that would other wise go the the landfill. We have been burning 100% Bio-Diesel for over a year and we love the fact that our 2003 Volkswagon TDI Jetta loves bio-diesel! Every time we hear of yet another oil spill we think wow it feels so great to know that our car runs on fry oil. Thanks Cowichan Bio-diesel Coop!"

"I joined the co-op for so many reasons - to support co-operative ventures, to buy biodiesel for my truck which I bought for that very reason, to stop polluting with diesel fumes which are among the most toxic of pollutants. When I made my first purchase, I felt I needed to justify spending $1.25 per litre but the feeling of driving down the highway spraying only the smell of french fries was so rewarding! In fact, I hadn't even realized I had a background feeling of guilt while driving until it was gone! By the time I finished using my 200 litres - the price of diesel was $1.30! Join the bio-diesel co-op and feel good about yourself, the planet and your fellow members. Every bit helps."

"Why did I join the Cowichan Bio-Diesel Co-op, support its work, and want others to join and support the co-op as well? It's a no brainer way of lowering our carbon footprint and building local resilience. Personally, after 60 years I finally for the first time get to drive a vehicle I can get my male ego going on. As I toodle around in my smart car running on 100% bio-diesel I can feel smug and superior as I'm surrounded by gas hogging pick-up trucks and the like. Getting 50 miles to the gallon and filling up every couple weeks with a whopping 20 litres is pretty good. When folks ask me about how I cope with the size of the smart car I do share my concern that, while it's perfect for 2 people and a chunk of luggage, I do find it somewhat large for one person. I figure able bodied people really should be riding a bicycle or one of Peter Nix's electric bikes or scooters."

"When we bought property in the Cowichan, the only sizable piece we could afford was way out a long dirt road. Our thrill of buying a beautiful acreage on which to build a natural home was marred by our guilt at having to drive 15 minutes just to get to the highway. Imagine our joy at discovering that the Cowichan Valley offered a Bio-diesel co-op! We traded in our gas-guzzling truck for a van with veggie-oil conversion and are thrilled to be able to get filtered veggie oil right from a pump, at our own convenience. Less driving guilt!"

"When I moved to the valley from Vancouver, I wanted to reduce my environmental footprint. But ironically, it meant leaving Vancouver's car co-op and bus system and having to purchase a vehicle. This dilemma was solved by the bio-diesel coop. We deliberately chose a VW-TDI that could take bio-diesel, and joined the co-op as soon as we arrived. We still cycle or stay home as much as possible, but when the road calls, we answer with a fuel that is locally-produced from a waste product."

"I decided to support the Cowichan Bio Diesel Coop because I would prefer to put my money towards a local grassroots organization working towards sustainability than large oil companies and all of their associated evils. Not only that, but now I smell better!"

"Nothing helps me sleep like bio-diesel, and a fill-up with B100 at the Cowichan Bio-Diesel Co-op card lock is a big healthy, home grown meal for my truck. My job is to protect cultural resources from industrial development, and I need to drive thousands of kilometers to inspect development sites. I’m constantly appalled by the waste of fuel and other finite resources I see out there, and I don’t want to be part of that problem. Using fuel made by recycling vegetable matter, harvested within the biosphere, is the environmentally-aware and politically-correct choice for me. I rest easy, knowing bio-diesel is part of the solution."
